You may recall that we previously informed you that Qualcomm is set to launch the Snapdragon 875 chipset on December 1st this year.

However, Qualcomm did not name the chipset as Snapdragon 875, but instead as Snapdragon 888, announcing the scheduled launch on December 1st during their Tech Summit Digital 2020 event.

Unlike the other chipsets in the Snapdragon 800 series, this Snapdragon 888 chipset is manufactured under a 5nm process and features a 3rd generation 5nm Snapdragon X60 5G Modem.

Qualcomm points out that this 5G chipset supports mm-Wave and Sub-6 bands worldwide, as well as multi-SIM, SA, and NSA networks and Dynamic Spectrum Sharing.

Equipped with a 6th Generation Hexagonal Powerful AI Engine, the chipset significantly enhances AI capabilities and can perform TOPS, up to 26 Tera Operations per second.

Also included in this Snapdragon 888 5G chipset is the 2nd generation Qualcomm Sensing Hub, which also reduces the battery capacity required for AI operation.

Speaking of photography capabilities, its Spectra ISP modem offers a gigapixel speed of 2.7 gigapixels and a shutter speed of approximately 12mp per second, capable of capturing up to 120 photos.

Qualcomm claims that this unique photo capability is 35% more efficient than the previous Snapdragon series Snapdragon 865 chipset. Samsung, Sony, Asus, Blackshark, Lenovo, LG, Meizu, Motorola, Nubia, Realme, Oneplus, Oppo, Sharp, Vivo, Xiaomi are all set to launch mobile phones using this super chipset. ZTE is among them.
